St. Matthias School and Church have been working together with the goal of raising $1.8 million in order to fully refurbish our Church with new paint and lighting (~$300,000) and to construct a new wing to be connected to our existing school building, preparing our Catholic School community for the future. The new wing will include classroom space for our 6th – 8th graders to rejoin the main campus and provide space for a science lab, language classes, and the arts to support our growing PK-8 International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme.
To date, nearly $1.2 million has been pledged to our capital campaign! Of the 172 donors to the campaign, 48 are current school families, only 25% of our current school population. This demonstrates tremendous support from our St. Matthias parishioners for our school and church, many of whom have given above and beyond what we could ever imagine was possible. This also highlights the opportunity we have if the remaining 75% of school parents give as enthusiastically and generously as our early donors. We are confident that we can reach our goal!
The early success of our campaign is evident in the beautiful improvements to our Church. By late fall, the painting and new lighting will be completed, just in time for the holiday season. Now it is time to focus on our school addition.
The construction of new classrooms will prepare St. Matthias School for the future of Catholic education in our community. Our initial timeline is to break ground in the Spring of 2017 for an opening in August 2018. The Archdiocese requires that we meet our goal in pledges and have 67% of the funds collected before they will allow us to break ground. We gratefully ask for your support to reach these milestones. Please consider the future of our Catholic School community and the benefits received, both now and in the future, in constructing this new facility. THANK YOU!
