St. Matthias School’s play-based preschool programs for 3- and 4-year-old children provide a safe and nurturing environment that encourages discovery through exploration, creativity, individuality and a positive self-image as a child of God.

Preschoolers can attend part- or full-time programs Monday through Friday, or Tuesday through Thursday.  Our half-day programs meet from 8:00 a.m. until 11:40 a.m., while full-day programs meet from 8:00 a.m. until 2:40 p.m.  (2 p.m. on Wednesdays).

Our preschool curriculum is geared towards pre-academics, social and emotional learning, and instilling a sense of community and belonging.  Each classroom has a daily schedule, which involves whole-group instruction during circle time, cross-curricular centers, snack time, gross-motor play time, lunch, arts integration, fine motor skills, and nap time. We are an active bunch, playing outside every day and taking lots of enriching field trips!

Our talented teachers strive to meet the needs of each individual learner.  In the classroom, children benefit from developmentally appropriate, individualized, hands-on learning. Both PK 3 and PK 4 implement thematic units as a cross-curricular approach to instruction.  Our students are given strong social and cognitive foundations, and are well-prepared for their elementary years.

Children must be 3 or 4 years old by September 1 of the year they are to enter school.  All must be toilet trained and self-sufficient (able to manage snaps, buttons and zippers on their own).
